FireTrade Coffee Company and Fair Trade

FireTrade supports the Fair Trade coffee concept and believes in the goal behind it. By dealing directly with the Farmers, buying Fair Trade coffee, and developing a co-op with them, FireTrade of course will pay the fair price for its coffee. But even more, after giving the farmer a fair deal for the raw product, he will receive the value added aspects of coffee, usually relegated to the importer. The FireTrade mission will also store, roast, package, and market their product in country, as well as exporting it, with the profits added to, and staying in, the country growing the coffee. With FireTrade roasters, these parts of the profit chain stay where they belong, and will do the most good. That’s just one reason why FireTrade goes beyond Fair Trade.

 

Selectivity

Profits alone do not necessarily make every boat rise. But FireTrade places its emphasis on sustaining the proven good works that directly benefit the whole community where the mission coffee company is created. For instance, in Iquitos, profits are clothing children, building their school and teaching them. FireTrade only partners with established and active indigenous ministries with a proven track record.
